An anonymous player from Montcalm County, Michigan has won a $22.6 million jackpot by playing Lotto 47.
Speaking about his life and habits, the jackpot-winning player revealed that part of his Sunday morning routine is to stop at the Greenville E-Z Mart to check his Lotto 47 tickets. According to the player, everyone at the store was excited, and upon realizing that he had won such a substantial amount of money, he started shaking.
“I'm a pretty simple guy, and I was so stunned I wasn't sure what to do,” said the player. He went on to share an anecdote about waking up his girlfriend, who was initially mad at him because it was so early; he said that she soon became ecstatic when he told her the great news.
The ticket was sold at the Greenville E-Z Mart, which is located at 115 E. Washington Street in Greenville. For the drawing held on February 18th, the player managed to match all six numbers, winning the massive jackpot.
This is no ordinary jackpot either. According to the Michigan State Lottery, this is the second biggest jackpot in the game's history. The biggest jackpot wasn't substantially larger, being worth $23.6 million. It was won by a lucky player from Macomb County on March 1st 2008.
The player from Montcalm County showed up to claim his ticket on Tuesday. Out of the options that he was presented with, he chose the one-time lump-sum payment of $14.3 million.
We were allowed a glimpse into his future plans, as he revealed that he plans to spend some of his winnings on a brand-new house and new used vehicle. He also plans to cover the costs of his wedding. According to the jackpot-winning player, he quit his job as soon as he won the jackpot.
